On May 26th, 2020, Christian Rafael Ortañez unexpectedly passed away from COVID-19 and we now share the pain and grieving endured by so many. He went to the hospital because he was experiencing difficulties with his breathing. The hospital administered Covid-19 testing, he was then discharged with pneumonia, possibly also sent home because he was fit and young. They advised my brother that they will be contacting him when the results of the test come in. That phone call never came, the hospital forgot about him, and Christian probably thought “no news is good news” and he unfortunately and unexpectedly passed away in his sleep at home. Christian was and always will be loved by countless family and friends. Christian was a beautiful soul, taken too soon from this life. But we have faith and trust in God that he was called upon to serve his higher purpose. Christian was adored by many, incredulously funny, and always full of life no matter where he was or who he was with. For those that knew him can attest that his big laughter can easily raise the good vibrations of any room he was in. He was truly a jokester and kind-hearted person. Christian also had a passion for sports from a young age. He was active in team sports such as basketball, football, track & field and enjoyed athleticism even in his adult life. He was also an avid fan of the Washington football team, Redskins. Each year he looked forward with hope to their return on the field for that super bowl ring. His family and friends truly miss him.
