Jay Goldstein of Brooklyn, New York, lived a life full of love, loyalty, family and deep friendships that lasted over 60 years. Jay was found unresponsive in a nursing home on April 12, 2020 and remained on a ventilator for 30 days. He had Covid-19, pneumonia, congestive heart failure and several infections from being in the hospital. His three children spent every day on the phones with the doctors, the nurses, the aids making sure he was getting the best medical attention. He was one of the favorites of the doctors because at one point his numbers were so good yet he just didn’t wake up fully enough to take the ventilator out safely. Jay left behind 1 son and 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. His children and close family members and friends were able to say goodbye to him the morning that they took the tubes out via FaceTime. His children sang to him, and told jokes as they watched him take his very last breath at 425pm. After 30 days fighting for his life, Covid-19 took him down. The card game in the sky got bigger that day and star player on the basketball court got its leading man. Rest in Peace Jay – You will forever be in our hearts! You mattered!
