My husband Louis was a kind, jovial, brilliant man, a chess lover, hungry for knowledge, he loved to read, to learn. He was loved by anyone who knew him. He was taken from us by covid-19. On March 26, a week after we had contracted covid-19 he was taken to the ER for dehydration after days of vomiting. The next day he told me he was doing much better and was told he’ll be discharged later. A few hours later he started developing respiratory and other health issues to the point that he needed oxygen. Early morning on Saturday March 28, he was put on a ventilator and from then on he fought hard for his life. One of the hardest things was not being able to hold his hand and be by his side through it all. Sometimes his nurses were able to place the phone close to him so he could hear my voice while I talked to him and pray for him. On the evening of April 18, 2020 the day that several of his doctors told me that he was improving and was doing a lot better, after 23 days in the hospital, he passed away at 43 years old. Devastated, I was still fighting the virus and weeks later by the grace of God and my mom making me countless home remedies, I survived covid-19. We love and miss you Louis Edouard Fontaine. Gone too soon but will never be forgotten.
