I was hit with covid that first wave- that same week of March most of us remember – March 14th / 15th… I fought the virus for 5 weeks, alone, in my 600 square foot NYC studio. I watched my father get buried via FaceTime as he lost his battle against covid. Fighting this virus while literally watching it kill your loved ones and thousands around you is still surreal to me. My father had Alzheimers, he couldn’t understand our world now as it was – he loved the outdoors and would’ve hated that long quarantine. I fight the guilt of not being there for him, for surviving when he didn’t, by reminding myself he is happy now, and he knows everything I wish I could’ve said or done.
