On Tuesday, President Trump Said, “We’re Turning the Corner” on COVID-19, as 41 States Experienced an Increase in Caseloads

DETROIT, Mich. – In response to news that cases of COVID-19 in Michigan have spiked 25 percent, Michigan members of COVID Survivors for Change, a non-partisan grassroots network of COVID-19 survivors, released the following statement.

“Eight months into the pandemic, families are still grieving every single day because our nation’s leaders have failed to protect us,” said Aaron Burch, a member of COVID Survivors for Change in Montrose, MI whose mother, Cheryl Burch, was killed by COVID-19 in June. “My sister is a police officer and I’m in the military – my family has done our part to keep the nation safe. We need leaders in Washington who will be brave too, and govern with the millions of Americans impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in mind.”

According to local reports, Michigan has reported 167,545 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, leading to 7,257 deaths and 3,271 cases confirmed daily as of Wednesday, October 28. On Tuesday, President Trump spoke at a rally in Wisconsin and promised the crowd that, “We’re turning the corner…We will vanquish this virus.”
